State Standards: GLEs/GSEs

Context of Lesson:

Student presentations will be taking place during the class period. For other groups that are not presenting, they will be taking notes based on their peers' presentation of the assignments seven investigation questions. If there is an important concept that was not covered in a presentation, I will have students add it into their notes at the end of a presentation.

Materials:

Rubrics for all groups, my notes for producers, consumers, and decomposers.

Objectives:

Students will be able to...
1.Develop knowledge about Producers, Consumers, and Decomposers.
2.Present their findings of Producers, Consumers, and Decomposers.
3. Create a visual representation of their specific group of organisms.

Instruction:

Opening:

Allow students the first ten minutes of class to gather their materials and add any last minute touches to their three sided poster boards. On the chalk/white board, have a list of the order of presentation groups.

Instruction:

Presentations- Students will present their results to the organism investigation questions for their particular group of organisms. As students are presenting, I will be completing the grading rubric for each group. Students who are not presenting will be taking notes for each of the seven investigation questions that groups are sharing with the class. Having my own notes for each of the different groups of these organisms, If there is an important concept that was not covered in a presentation, I will have students add it into their notes at the end of a presentation. Since all students are to have their own set of notes for their own topic, they will not be missing any information while they are presenting. Each group should take approximately 12-15 minutes to present their projects.

Closure :

Conclude with posing the questions, “How was this learning experience in terms of learning a specific topic on your own and then teaching/relaying this information to your peers?”, “Was this method effective?”, “Would you possibly want to try this again in the future?” Commend all groups on their projects. Remind student to keep all of their notes in preparation for the upcoming ecology exam.

Assessment:

Formally assess students with the provided scoring rubric for their presentations.
